Getting off the ground online

Last week, I had the pleasure of hosting a call with local San Diego business coach/”transformationist” Ted McGrath of Rize Global.
The call was geared towards members of my list at Tri Swim Coach. So the talk was about how success in sports relates to success in business.
Ted talked about how all of life is driven by potential. Our lives are driven by our FULL potential selves. And problems are just a part of life, that can be overcome by potential solutions. Typically, we trade problems- often for a bigger solution.
Lance Armstrong’s coach Jeff Spencer talks about the idea of butterflies in your stomach before a big event or race being a normal thing. It’s a natural signal to your body that something big is upcoming, and it’s time to get ready. This knowledge can literally propel you to “keep swimming”, or to sink in the water!
Ted talked about envisioning what it is you need to do to get what you want. Close your eyes, and practice simply breathing. 2 seconds in, hold for 2 seconds, and release. Just notice what you feel throughout your body, and the presence you feel. Tune in to your best self! Then, ask yourself: what is the problem I need to work on, right now? Go with the first answer that comes up.
But the point of this talk comes down to one thing, and that’s breakthroughs.
Everyone has a story to tell, something unique they can teach the world.
The only way I can see to have a really fulfilling, happy life is to find this purpose, and create a formula, or business out of it. If you can do this, money will not be an issue.
Personally, I’m in the middle of my transition right now. I love helping people, and I’ve done this with teaching swimming for many years. But I feel a pull in another direction now. I’m passionate about living free, or as free as possible. I’m now helping people with their online businesses, which is very exciting and rewarding. I also am in the midst of teaching how to get to this type of freedom I know is possible.
What about you? Are you living your passion, nowhere near, or somewhere in between? I’d love to here your story!

I was running 7 websites and wanted to finish all of this in a day!
Crazy! I began to feel overwhelmed. But is the feeling of being overwhelmed even necessary, ever? I don’t think so. There are simply two things going wrong if this is happening to you:
1. You have actually taken on too much.
2. You don’t have a plan.
Or, sometimes, it can be a combination between the two.
My solution was easy. I had 2 projects that I continued to add tasks to, even though they weren’t making me any money, and the prospects were dim. I decided to put one of them on the back burner, and ditch the other one completely. HUGE load off my shoulders!
For the part about having a plan, sometimes this can be overrated. Do you need an elaborate business plan to execute a niche marketing or internet business project? No, in fact, I think that may hurt a lot of people, as it leads to an inflexible path, and could waste a lot of time pursuing the wrong avenues.
Instead, the old school method can work just fine for a lot of people:
1. Write down, with pen and paper, each project you are working on.
2. Underneath, list ALL possible tasks you could have to do on that project.
3. Rank the tasks in order of importance by putting a number next to them.
4. Rank the projects in order of importance (most money-making to least money-making or biggest long-shot)
5. Start on the list for project #1, and follow through each task in chronological order.
That’s it! Nothing fancy, just get to work and get it done. “Overwhelm” will subside as you are always working on the most important things that are going to do the most for your career and income. The Art of Being Overwhelmed becomes an excuse!
What have you tried that works and what doesn’t work for getting out of the overwhelmed trap?
I’ve been a member of Niche Profit Classroom now for over a year, and have experienced a lot of what’s offered in their NPC 3.0 version.
They have recently released NPC 4.0 Phase One, and are scheduled to roll out Phase Two later this month. I believe there are two phases total of this new version of NPC.
What’s included in the new NPC?
Adam Short and his team have upgraded all of the training videos in the Classroom area, including the 8 modules of Core training and the 7 modules of Level 2 Profit Boost training.
The big addition to NPC in this phase is the Niche Profit Shortcut. Here, Adam has really outdone himself! No matter what level you are currently, you can use the Niche Profit Shortcut training to build high quality websites that can start earning you money in 7 days!
I know this is true, because I have done it. I went through the blueprint provided, and built a site in 3 days, and started earning money in 5 days! You don’t have to have any knowledge of internet marketing whatsoever to use this system, and the step-by-step process Adam has laid out makes building one of these sites a no-brainer.
With the Shortcut sites you are getting 100% free traffic and using Google Adsense to get click-thru’s to earn money. Most of the sites you will build will generate between $40-$200 per month, according to Adam’s assessment. I’m confident this is about right, and depending on the chosen product and keyword you select, I have no doubt you could even earn more than $200! And, it’s not out of the question to be able to build 1-2 of these sites per day, so as you can see, your passive income can add up quickly.
The other big addition to NPC in this phase is Niche Profit Press Ultimate. This is much easier to use than the original Niche Profit Press. Adam walks you through how to put up a high quality site in just a few minutes, and you really don’t need to know any html to use this tool. Take it from me, I’m one of these internet marketers who steers clear of anything technical, in fear of destroying one of my sites. But this new tool makes it so much easier to implement new sites and to make updates. And, if you have any trouble at all, George is available in the discussion forums to answer your questions (and I’m amazed at how fast he is at replying to messages!).
And, with NPC you get all the other amazing benefits, like the 2 years’ worth of mastermind webinars, the free hosting on all your sites, the weekly coaching calls, and the monthly niche packs (two per month that you can implement and start a niche information product business immediately).
Overall, so far I am thrilled with the new Niche Profit Classroom 4.0 updates and additions. I’m using the site on a daily basis and can’t wait to see what’s in the next phase!

When it comes to a successful internet business, there are 3 main ways you can make money. Here they are!

1. Work as an affiliate for another product or service. This is a great way to get started when you have limited resources, and you are wanting to get your feet wet making a few bucks online. Some people find a way to make a living doing affiliate marketing, but others get frustrated by the amount of work it takes, and typically at most you are making a 50% commission. So you may work 2-10 times as hard for the same pay as if it were your own product or service!
2. Create your own product. This sounds harder than it is. Information products are relatively easy to create. Often, people will create an ebook as their first product, which can sell for anywhere from $20-$50. You can learn how to effectively do this in a short time with the system at getnicheprofits.com.
3. Create your own membership site. You are the expert. You’ve got unique knowledge in a particular area, and people will pay you monthly to join as members to get special content. This is more work than the first two, but will usually pay off quite a bit more with the right marketing. The system I use for this is at Internet Business Mastery, where you get a clear, step-by-step program to start your new web business and generate lots of passive income.
The important thing is taking that first step. Decide which path to start down and do it! You can always change and adjust as you go.
Here’s the video blog I did recently on planning your niche:
Yesterday, I was talking to a friend about the potential of an upcoming meltdown in the stock market and overall U.S. economy.
Some of the experts I read and trust are saying big, ugly things are going to happen to this country with the next 8 months!
It’s kind of scary, but the “big picture” is out of our control. So what can we do?
Well, owning some gold is a very good idea, but many of us do not have enough money to be buying ounces of gold worth around $1200 each. Silver is another option, which is around $18/oz, but it is very tough to store it, and you can’t exactly spend silver to buy your groceries.
So owning gold and silver is a smart way to preserve wealth as the dollar tanks.
But business-wise, what is going to work in the new economy?
The internet is not going anywhere. New people around the world are getting on the internet in droves, and they are shopping! So having business in this vast sea of potential customers is about as recession-proof as one can get. A U.S. implosion would be bad for everyone. But economies in Asia and other places are not likely to be down for long- and online, they are part of your base as much as your next door neighbor!
So creating something online that makes a profit can be an asset many years into the future, with or without a bad economy.
It can also create freedom for you like nothing else can. Tim Ferriss’ 4-hour workweek has made the idea of being a “citizen of the world” or having a mobile business a much more mainstream idea. In the future, people are likely going to be able to live anywhere- or have a “vagabond-style” life, going from place to place with many stops along the way. Working at a job or having a location-dependent business will restrict you from taking advantage of this type of freedom.
So surviving the new economy comes down to:
1. Having something that pays you every month if you are working on it or not
2. Not being tied to a particular location
3. Being “diversified” enough to not lose your ass if a big crash hits- i.e. not all income coming from one source, like a job, a particular investment, or even one particular sector (i.e. biotech, software, etc.)
Jump on board the wave of the future now and you will be prepared before the ship actually sinks!
I was having a conversation with a friend last night who is an artist, and paints pictures partially for a living. I was surprised to find out that she did not realize her
artistic potential until college! I had also just recently read something about keeping an open mind, and think back to when you were a small child and didn’t have any biases. Who did you want to become? What did you want to do? How and why did that change over the years?
This is important to think back to, because it can uncover some strong creative tendencies that may have been buried after years of mind-numbing traditional schools, which crush many dreams and shut down ambition with their one-size-fits-all lesson plans, requirements, and grading systems.
Perhaps your artistic talent manifests in a different way than painting or drawing pictures. Mine sure does. Although, I could probably practice my painting skills and draw some reasonable pictures, I would rather spend time using my “artistic” talent in different ways- like teaching…or writing!
Anyway, my friend is carving out a niche now online in a topic around a specific type of yoga, and it got me thinking- this is a form of art in itself. Seeing something that already exists and improving on it in a unique way requires artistic talent! You may not know you have this talent. It’s in all of us, it just has to be drawn out.
Sometimes we can do this by ourselves, and sometimes it takes a teacher…or mentor to bring this out of us.
It comes right back to internet business. Starting and running an internet business is a great way to not only use your artistic talent, but to develop something that actually pays you real money in the process. There is no real limit online as to what you can do. You can expand this creativity into several markets, or hone in on one and influence thousands of people in an area that you are passionate about.
So this is another reason why online business is so exciting, and jobs, while they serve a purpose, are boring and limiting in comparison.

A friend who is looking for a career change told me this today.
And I can’t argue that internet business is EASY.
But, here’s the thing: EVERYTHING you do in life that’s worthwhile is hard to some level.
And when it comes to a career, you only have a few basic options:
1. (Not very desirable) Get a job at a company. Try to move your way up the company ladder. Get burned out, quit, find another job, start the process again.
2. (Very desirable) Start a business online in a niche you are interested in. Make a few hundred bucks a month at first. Keep going, eventually make a living, keep going, and get rich- on your own time, and doing something you like or even LOVE.
3. (Least desirable) Work for the government. Live off of other people. Get a “guaranteed” pension, be unhappy with your work, work with unhappy people who are also living off of others.
So yes, it’s all difficult. But the key here is to create financial freedom as much as you can. Running an internet business is very much one of those things where you get out of it what you put into it.
There are no shortcuts, but your use of time is much better than other options, simply because even if you are spending 10 hours a day for a while creating your business, there will be a time when this can be cut down- and the choice will be yours- live off of what your website is making, or press on and fulfill all your dreams?
You may have heard about Adam Short’s Niche Classroom website, and wondered if this is something that can help you start an online business.

I have both been a member of the site and personally worked with Adam on a project, and I have yet to find anything more simply laid out, easy to follow, and systematic in the “making money on the internet” world.
He’s not promising the world, but if you do go step-by-step in the course, you will definitely come out with a profitable niche website.
What you need to know going in is that 1) it does require work and time on your part, and 2) most people do not follow through with ideas- giving you a huge advantage if you take action!
Even just spending a couple of months going through all the training that’s provided in the Niche Classroom is well worth it. You can likely build a couple of websites in that time if you just reserve 2 hours a day to focus on it.
The ideas that can make you an extra $500-$1500 a month are practically unlimited. Knitting, betta fish, and bearded dragons are a few of the niches that are discussed in the video trainings within the classroom site. And, each one of these topics can be made into a full-time income business if that’s what you want!
This takes some dedication and interest in your chosen niche, as well as the desire to create a passive income stream or a business.
Building a profitable site within the niche classroom is as easy as 1-2-3- as long as you can follow simple directions and take the necessary action to get it done!
